Pakistani Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai has made a rare appearance in her home country. She is there to take part in a conference on girls' education in the Muslim world. The gathering has brought together local and international campaigners united by a common goal of making progress on the issue. Notably absent from the event are representatives from neighboring Afghanistan. Despite promises to respect women’s rights, the country's Taliban rulers have essentially banned women and girls from exercising their basic rights to free speech, work and education. 00:00 Women's rights in Afghanistan 02:47 Farzana Bari, Human rights activist 06:14 Beenish Javed, DW reporter For more news go to: http://www.dw.com/en/ For more news, analysis and background information on the German election 2025 go to our dedicated page: https://www.dw.com/en/german-election-2025/t-70794502 Follow DW on social media: ►Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dwnews ►TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dwnews ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deutschewellenews/ ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/dwnews Für Videos in deutscher Sprache besuchen Sie: https://www.youtube.com/dwdeutsch Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/deutschewelleenglish?sub_confirmation=1 #Afghanistan #Pakistan #womensrights
