The ceasefire in Gaza would release dozens of hostages held there and pause the 15-month long Israel-Hamas war, bringing the sides a step closer to ending their deadliest and most destructive fighting ever. The ceasefire deal itself is comprised of three stages, with the final stage requiring the reconstruction of Gaza. Yet the deal is not a blueprint for establishing a two-state solution. DW speaks to Nomi Bar-Yaacov, international lawyer and arbitrator, who discusses what’s necessary for a lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
