Two years after October 7th, 2023, Gaza’s children born on that day have known nothing but war. Their first cries were drowned by air strikes, their homes turned to rubble before they could walk. Many have been displaced repeatedly, their families scattered and lives uprooted. Childhoods once meant for play are now marked by fear, hunger, and loss. Tents and ruins have replaced classrooms and playgrounds. These children have learned to survive amid bombardment and uncertainty. Their generation grows up carrying Gaza’s story of endurance, loss, and hope for peace. Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reports from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
