Brazilian police have released a new 884-page report claiming that former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro plotted a coup to overturn his country's 2022 election results. He allegedly called a meeting with top military officials in December 2022 and presented them with plans for a coup. He asked the military officials to join him, but while the navy agreed, the army and airforce declined. As a result, the coup against President-elect at the time, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, never went ahead. The police report says that Bolsonaro "actively participated in the creation of the coup plan, being directly involved in the drafting of documents and strategies to remain in power, even after the electoral defeat." Former President Bolsonaro has denied any wrongdoing.
