Can social media ever be safe for children?

The UK media regulator #OFCOM has set out new rules for #socialmedia designed to keep kids safe online. The rules include age verification and reformulating #algorithms to keep children away from "toxic" content. But parents whose children have died due to exposure to harmful content have called the rules an "insult".
