Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Vladimir Putin wants the rest of the Donetsk region as part of a ceasefire deal. President Zelensky repeated his position that Ukrainian forces would not withdraw from territory that they control. Fighting has raged in Donetsk since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion three-and-a-half years ago. A recent gallop poll has shown that Ukrainians favor a negotiated settlement with Russia over fighting. On Friday, President Putin is due to meet US President Donald Trump in Alaska for talks on the war in Ukraine. European leaders have been warning against a dictated peace deal that would endanger Ukraine's future existence.
