The Dalai Lama, exiled spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, marks his 90th birthday amidst colourful celebrations in Dharamshala, India. Followers from around the world, including Hollywood actor Richard Gere, gathered to honour the Nobel laureate's enduring influence and message of peace. Despite his advanced age, the Dalai Lama expressed a wish to live until 130 and reaffirmed his commitment to serving people and Buddhist teachings. The celebrations, however, unfold against a backdrop of ongoing tensions with China, which still regards him as a separatist, and uncertainties surrounding his succession.
