Defence secretary vows to 'double down' on Putin but won't be drawn on Iran threat

The defence secretary says there is "no assessment" Iran plans to attack the UK as he talks up "combined action" with allies against Russian oil vessels. John Healey says the UK is taking the lead sanctioning Russia's shadow oil fleet and has seized 200 of nearly 600 ships passing through British waters - but on the Middle East war front, could not rule out that Iran has missile capability to reach the UK. Mr Healey told Sky's Sophy Ridge: "I understand the concerns that British people will have, but we have the resources and we have the alliances in place to be able to protect Britain. In a wide-ranging interview, the defence secretary also defended the UK's response to the Iran war, saying: "I'm proud of the readiness. I'm proud of the response of our armed forces."
