A two-day summit of EU and African Union leaders in Luanda, Angola has drawn to a close, with both sides emphasizing that the shared future of their continents lies in closer cooperation. Migration, trade and cooperation on global issues were among the items on the agenda. Collectively, the EU constitutes the African continent's most important trading partner. The AU-EU summit is the seventh in the 25 years of partnership between the two blocs. The first day of the conference was partially overshadowed by a European scramble to improve the terms of a US plan to end the war in Ukraine.
