Watch live outside court in Virginia as former FBI Director James Comey makes his first court appearance in a Justice Department criminal case accusing him of lying to Congress five years ago. Comey has been charged with obstruction of justice and making a false statement to Congress. Comey was fired months into Donald Trump's first presidency in the middle of an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Fellow former FBI chief Robert Mueller took over the investigation, which found numerous contacts between Trump's 2016 campaign and Russian officials, but concluded that there was not enough evidence to establish a criminal conspiracy.
