German foreign minister stresses support for Ukraine on visit to Kyiv | DW News

Germany's foreign minister has pledged continued military aid for Ukraine, saying supporting Ukrainian sovereignty is essential for the defense of Europe's freedom and values. Johann Wadephul was speaking on arrival in Kyiv, in his first visit to the Ukrainian capital since taking office last month. He is set to hold talks with his counterpart in Kyiv. Moscow has stepped up its bombardment of Ukraine in recent weeks. And Wadephul underlined Germany's backing of Ukraine in the face of Russian escalation. DW's Nick Connolly reports from Kyiv.
