Heavy Rain Causes Waist-High Floods in Parts of Myanmar

Video posted on social media showed muddy, waist-high water in the streets of Pyi Oo Lwin town in central Myanmar on Sunday, after continuous heavy rain lashed the area. There were no reports of casualties, but the Myanmar fire department sent rescue crews to the worst-hit areas and posted photographs of people being helped to higher ground. Residents of the hill station located about 70km east of Mandalay said it rained for nearly nine hours from 1am and that they had never seen such serious flooding before.
