Incessant rains forced locals to wade through knee-deep water and caused traffic jams across several cities in India on August 6, 2022. Locals riding two-wheelers in northeastern Guwahati city were seen sheltering under a flyover, waiting for the rain to stop. Meanwhile, dams on the Kaveri River in the southern Tiruchirappalli district had to be opened to release the excess water flow.
