White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has launched a blistering attack on USAID after Elon Musk announced that President Trump had agreed to shut down the $40bn foreign aid agency. Reading a list of programmes it had funded, she told reporters she didn't want her tax dollars "going towards this c**p" and suggested the American people wouldn't either. The list included $47,000 for a transgender opera in Colombia and $32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru.
