The clock is ticking after Donald Trump said on Saturday that if Iran does not "fully open" the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the US "will hit and obliterate their power plants". He discussed the vital waterway in a phone call with Sir Keir Starmer last night- with the British prime minister to host a COBRA meeting on the war's cost-of-living impact this afternoon. The price of oil has risen again to reach a four-year high. Iran responded to Trump's ultimatum with threats of its own, warning of four ways it will retaliate if the US leader follows through. One of Tehran's top ministers told the US to "try respect" in its efforts to reopen the strait.
