Israel to block dozens of aid groups working in war-battered Gaza

Severe humanitarian needs in Gaza are worsening as dozens of aid groups are forced to halt operations under new Israeli restrictions. Up to 48 organisations have stopped work, leaving fewer clinics, food distributions and shelters for civilians. Aid agencies are described as the backbone of survival, providing medical care, clean water, protection and basic support. Their absence also reduces visibility, as many groups document conditions and keep Gaza connected to the outside world. Israel has long restricted international organisations, including UNRWA, accusing them of links to Hamas without providing evidence. The UN and UNRWA have rejected these claims, saying safeguards are in place. With displacement, hunger and disease rising, the measures risk deepening an already catastrophic crisis.
