Israeli Knesset member Ofer Cassif told Al Jazeera that he was forcibly removed from parliament for quoting an Israeli writer’s genocide accusation against Gaza operations, exposing what he called institutional denial. The Hadash party politician cited Likud MP Nisim Vattori’s hypocrisy – sanctioning Cassif while having previously advocated shooting Palestinian men. Cassif noted growing but polarised dissent in Israel, with 1,000 artists and former generals now condemning Gaza atrocities, though he faces violent threats for his stance. He warned Israel’s society nears “bloodshed” over this divide, recounting near-lynchings at anti-war rallies. Netanyahu’s planned Gaza occupation, Cassif argued, fulfils Smotrich’s years-old annexation agenda, not security needs. He condemned international inaction as Gaza’s genocide parallels historical crimes, stressing: “The Palestinian people are being butchered.” Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/AJSubscribe Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/AJEnglish Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aljazeera Check our website: http://www.aljazeera.com/ Check out our Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/aljazeeraenglish/ Download AJE Mobile App: https://aje.io/AJEMobile #Israel #Knesset #OferCassif #DavidGrossman #GenocideInGaza
