A team of neonatal experts says there are "very plausible reasons" why seven babies died under the watch of nurse Lucy Letby. Letby was convicted of the murders of seven babies and the attempted murders of seven others when she worked on the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016. She is serving 15 whole-life orders. However, there have been questions about the conviction. A team of experts assembled to represent her told a news conference the deaths were as a result of a "combination of babies being in the wrong place, being delivered in the wrong place, delayed diagnosis and inappropriate or absent treatment". Her case will be reviewed by the Criminal Cases Review Commission, which investigates potential miscarriages of justice, after Letby's lawyers made an application to the body on Monday.
