Industry Minister Sarah Jones has refused to rule out a Chinese company taking over British Steel's Scunthorpe plant. The government moved to take over the running of the operation at the weekend after the current owners, Jingye, said the plant was no longer economically viable. Ms Jones said the immediate future of the plant was secure after the government procured the raw materials needed to keep the blast furnaces operational.
