More than 50,000 migrants cross Channel since election

More than 50,000 migrants have crossed the Channel on small boats since Sir Keir Starmer became prime minister, Home Office data shows. Figures published today reveal that 474 people crossed the Channel yesterday in eight small boats. This is the highest number of people to arrive in one day in August.
