Detained Columbia University graduate Mahmoud Khalil has released a statement, which he dictated over the phone to his family. He's been held in Louisiana by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement despite being a green card holder. He was arrested over his involvement organizing protests in support of Gaza on campus last year. Khalil's detention was the subject of yet another protest in New York on Tuesday. The demonstrators called on President Donald Trump's administration to stop its plan to deport students like Khalil, who participated in protests against the war on Gaza. Al Jazeera’s Kristen Saloomey was at that protest in New York City.
