The winners of this year’s Nobel prizes will be announced at ceremonies in Stockholm and Oslo in the coming days. The awards are part of the will of inventor Alfred Nobel who wanted to encourage advances in science, literature and peace with promises of prestige and money. But Nobel institutions in Sweden worry that US government interference could hinder academic freedom and progress, something the White House denies.
