Authorities are investigating what caused an Azerbaijani Airlines passenger jet to crash in Kazakhstan, killing at least 38 people. The plane was supposed to travel a very different route from Azerbaijan's capital Baku to Grozny in Russia. Yet it flew off-course across the Caspian Sea and circled in the air over Aktau, Kazakhstan, before eventually crashing there. Remarkably, more than two-dozen people on board survived.
