US President Donald Trump has claimed Iran wants "to make a deal so badly" but that "they’re afraid to say it, because they figure they’ll be killed by their own people". Speaking at a Republican fundraiser in Washington, Trump insisted Iran is "negotiating" with the US in relation to the conflict in the Middle East. He also said that "there's never been a head of a country that wanted that job less than being the head of Iran". The US president's remarks come after Iran earlier dismissed a peace plan proposed by the White House, calling the demands "excessive".
