Somalia evictions: Anger in Mogadishu as government bulldozers demolish homes for 'development'

Protests have erupted in Mogadishu as residents denounce government-led evictions and demolitions. Hundreds of families have been displaced, seeking refuge in centres on the city’s outskirts. Bulldozers have flattened homes in the Hodan district, with residents claiming extortion and corruption. Many say they were asked to pay large sums to legalise their land or face eviction.
