Starvation killing Gaza’s population as civil defence spokesman calls for global action

In an Al Jazeera interview, Gaza Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal described catastrophic conditions in Gaza, where Israel's "systematic starvation policy" has killed over 1,000 civilians seeking aid since March, including 85 children. He revealed his own family survives on lentils, with daughter Malik pleading "we have nothing at home", while son Mahmoud cries constantly from hunger. His emotional testimony highlighted mothers' inability to soothe hungry children, with nights filled with cries of starving infants - a reality he called "beyond description".
