One of the world's worst humanitarian crises, the mass famine and displacement in Sudan "is much, much greater than Gaza and Ukraine combined," former prime minister Abdulla Hamdok told DW's Tim Sebastian. Hamdok, who led the government after former dictator Omar Bashir was forced from power and knows the two rival generals fighting a brutal civil war, said the country has spent most of the years since independence under military dictatorship and that the Sudanese people bear the ultimate responsibility for ending the conflict.  But Hamdok called for international support to get foreign fighters out of the country.
