Suspicion of hazardous leak after Iranian attack in Israel’s Beersheba area

Iran has launched multiple missile volleys targeting Beersheba in southern Israel, with at least nine attacks reported since midnight. A direct strike hit a building using a cluster-type missile, and there are now suspicions of a hazardous material leak in the industrial zone. Residents have been told to stay indoors, close their windows, and follow official instructions. The main highway connecting central Israel with Beersheba has been closed as efforts focus on containing contamination, cooling the area, and putting out fires. The industrial zone contains 19 factories — including bromide and pharmaceutical plants — and is also home to Israel's main hazardous waste disposal site. The military censor has not yet released the name of the specific plant hit or what it produces. Southern Israel's Negev region, which contains both industrial zones and military sites, has borne the brunt of the Iranian barrage. No confirmed casualties have been reported.
