Trump and NATO chief Mark Rutte speak at White House after sanctions imposed on Russian oil firms

Watch live as US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte deliver remarks at the White House. Rutte has been speaking to reporters ahead of the with Trump in Washington. Our US correspondent, David Blevins, asked Rutte: "Is your meeting today not an indication President Trump's meeting with President Zelenskyy on Friday was a total disaster?" "No, not at all. This was already planned before," Rutte said. "I was texting with the president after the enormous success in Gaza, and we said let's have a meeting in Washington to discuss how we now can deliver his vision on peace in Ukraine." "It was a good meeting, it was a successful meeting," he added about the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting last week. Rutte told reporters NATO had been "renewed (and) reinvigorated" since Trump's re-election as president in January, and that he "broke the deadlock" with Vladimir Putin when the pair spoke over the phone back in February.
