Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities have resulted in a devastating toll on civilians, with an entire family, including a two-year-old child, killed in a strike on a residential area of Kharkiv. The Ukrainian military reports that Russia launched 140 drones and 4 ballistic missiles overnight, with 25 direct hits. The recent escalation has led to the highest civilian casualty count in a 24-hour period in weeks, whilst the UN monitoring mission notes that last month saw a three-year high in civilian deaths, with nearly 300 losing their lives to Russian strikes. As emergency services continue to search through the rubble, local officials warn that the death toll may rise further. The attacks come just hours out from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky heads to Washington for crucial talks with US President Donald Trump, highlighting the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
