UN Security Council members condemn Israel’s recognition of Somaliland

The United Nations Security Council has met for an emergency session, after Israel became the first country to recognise Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state. Israel said the recognition is based on extensive dialogue during the past year. But most council members condemned the action saying it violates international law and the UN Charter.
