After 43 days of political deadlock and heated debate on both sides of the political aisle, the US House of Representatives approved a bill to end the longest federal government shutdown in American history. Six Democrats sided with Republicans, and two Republicans voted against the bill. President Donald Trump is poised to sign off on the legislation shortly, enacting it as law.
