President Trump ordered the strikes on the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan plants - saying it was to prevent any nuclear threat from Tehran. Iran's foreign minister says the US has betrayed diplomacy by attacking its three main nuclear sites. Abbas Araghchi says negotiations are no longer an option, as the Americans only understand threat and force. Iran has retaliated to the US attacks by firing missiles into Israel. They struck northern and central areas including the cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa. Lawrence Korb, a former US assistant secretary of defence, says the “real question” after the US air attacks on the Iranian nuclear sites is what comes next. Yossi Mekelberg, a senior consulting fellow at Chatham House and expert on Israeli politics, says Israel is not contemplating economic consequences as it sees fighting with Iran as an existential war.
