US Vice President JD Vance has been holding talks with Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as Washington seeks to preserve a tenuous ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Vance joins other senior US officials who travelled to Israel to build momentum around the next phase of the deal. Speaking a day earlier, the Vice President said he had “great optimism” that the truce can hold. He also declined to set a deadline by which Hamas is expected to fully disarm which remains a sticking point.
