Washington residents split over Trump's DC action

Residents of Washington, D.C., expressed a mixture of skepticism, disdain and relief after a federal takeover of the city's law enforcement and the arrival of National Guard troops ordered by President Trump.   In an announcement on August 11, the president said he sought to rid the city of "violent criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged-out maniacs and homeless people."
