MPs have voted in favour of the assisted dying bill in the House of Commons. Some 314 MPs voted in favour, while 291 against - a majority of 23. This means the legislation will now be considered by the House of Lords. The proposed legislation would allow terminally ill adults, with fewer than six months to live, to apply for an assisted death, subject to approval by two doctors and a panel featuring a social worker, senior legal figure and psychiatrist. Kim Leadbeater, the MP who introduced the bill, was seen crying in the chamber as it was passed.
