According to the rights group United Christian Forum, violence against India's Christians has been on the rise ever. The increase in attacks against Christians has been rising ever since the Hindu nationalist party - the BJP - came to power in 2014. United Christian Forum report that last year saw more than 800 attacks on Christians - a nearly sevenfold increase in a decade. Among the victims are members of India’s Adivasi community, many of whom converted to Christianity decades ago. Much of the violence is concentrated in the Bastar region of India's Chhattisgarh state.
