The Israel supreme court rejects a lawsuit seeking to recognize Moroccan Jews who suffered under Vichy State laws as Holocaust victims. Had these individuals been recognized as requested, they would be entitled to state compensation under Israeli law, totaling some $123-million dollars. But the courts ruled that while the Vichy and Nazi-aligned authorities did pass Antisemitic laws, the Moroccan government had been doing the same on their own accord and therefore, Israeli Holocaust survivors rights do not apply.
