Zimbabwe rolls out new HIV prevention drug: The injectable drug Lenacapavir is taken twice a year

Zimbabwe has begun rolling out a long-acting injectable HIV prevention medicine, making it one of the first countries to offer a twice-yearly shot providing six months’ protection. The first phase targets about 46,500 people at high risk, including young women and pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, with an initial regimen of an injection and four tablets, and a second injection after six months.
