Ahead of its expected early February launch, NASA's new moon rocket, Artemis 2, is being moved to its launch pad. Artemis 2 will be the first crewed spaceflight to the vicinity of the Moon since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. Although it won't land on our nearest celestial neighbor, the mission will lay the groundwork for a lunar landing by astronauts in the Artemis 3 mission, which is expected in 2028. Subsequent Artemis missions are also in the works, including missions 4 and 5, which will involve building the Gateway, a small space station in lunar orbit.
