Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has died at the age of 80. The wife of an assassinated military leader, Zia was the first elected prime minister after the restoration of democracy in the 1990s. Her bitter rivalry with Sheikh Hasina had defined politics in the country for three decades. Her Bangladesh National Party announced Zia passed away early on Tuesday, soon after dawn prayers.
