Conservatives call for UK to produce more North Sea oil and gas under 'cheap energy plan'

The Conservatives are calling for the UK to build new oil rigs in the North Sea and scrap proposed fuel duty rises to help lower energy costs. Tory leader Kemi Badenoch has accused the government of raising taxes to pay energy bills and says "we should be thinking about what's in the UK interest" rather than green levies to encourage the development of cleaner energy. Ms Badenock was also asked about the UK's position on Iran and accused the Prime Minister of being "too slow" over his response to the conflict. On the subject of Iranian attacks on UK bases in the Middle East, she added, "if people are shooting arrows at you, it's not enough that you catch the arrows.
