The United Nations has begun to provide Syrian refugees in Lebanon with financial incentives to return home. The plan is endorsed by the Lebanese government months after a change in leadership in Damascus. Between 200,000-400,000 people are expected to be repatriated by the end of the year – that’s about a quarter of the refugee population in Lebanon.
