On Thursday, United Nations officials reported Israeli forces had shot at UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, leaving two peacekeepers wounded. The UN mission in Lebanon, known as UNIFIL, decried the Israeli attacks, stating that “any deliberate attack on peacekeepers is a grave violation of international humanitarian law.” The Israeli military said that its forces near a UNIFIL base ordered UN peacekeepers to move to so-called “protected areas,” after which Israeli forces opened fire. In response to these attacks, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield posted on X that Israeli forces should “not threaten the safety and security of UN peacekeepers. UNIFIL must be able to operate freely and in accordance with its mandate.” Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/deutschewelleenglish?sub_confirmation=1 For more news go to: http://www.dw.com/en/ Follow DW on social media: ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deutschewellenews/ ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/dwnews ►Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dwnews ►Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/dwnews_hangout Für Videos in deutscher Sprache besuchen Sie: https://www.youtube.com/dwdeutsch
